As you already know Apple has announced changes with iOS 14 that will impact how Facebook will receive and process events from tools like the Facebook pixel.

Due to these changes, Facebook will start processing web events from iOS 14 devices using Aggregated Event Measurement, which supports advertisers’ efforts to preserve user privacy while running effective campaigns.

You may see a decrease in the number of reported conversions and some of your ads may be paused or could stop delivering to certain devices.

There are some steps that you need to take in order to be ready for this change. To better report the metrics Facebook now requires that you verify your Domain and also set up your Aggregated Event Measurements.

With the changes coming up you will be able to track up to 8 conversion events per domain, based on your priority you will be able to line up events that are more important to you. As an example, it can be

  • Purchase
  • Add to cart
  • Content view
* The above events are just for illustration purposes only, the events may vary from your pixel.
When editing event configurations, choose events that will send the data that is most valuable to your business. Data you receive from these events can be used in ad campaigns for targeting, optimization, and measurement.

You can choose standard events and custom conversions that Facebook has received in the last 28 days from the website domain being configured. Custom events and page view events are not generally available at this time. However, you can use custom events and page view events for optimization by creating custom conversions.

We recommend that you identify the 8 conversion events most important to critical business outcomes and assess if changes need to be made to your campaign or measurement strategy. You may need to consider if you’ll be required to optimize for upper-funnel objectives like landing page views and link clicks. When you create your ad set you’ll choose only one of the 8 designated conversion events to optimize for.
Note: The configuration and account limits imposed by Aggregated Event Measurement won’t apply until Apple begins to enforce their iOS 14 changes. Until that time, you can set up your events to use Aggregated Event Measurement and it won’t impact optimization or reporting.
Before you begin make sure to have:
  • If you don’t have a Business Manager account: Create a Business Manager account. You must have a Business Manager to verify your domain.
  • If you do have a Business Manager account: Make sure you have admin access to the Business Manager account. If you don’t, reach out to a current Business Manager admin to give you admin access.
  • Make sure your Business Manager has access to the pixels you want to use to set up events.

As you can see at the top just after the domain name there is a red dot that indicates that your domain is still not verified by Facebook.
To verify your domain Facebook gives us 3 (three) options:
  • DNS Verification

To use this option you need to have access to your domain host provider, each provider has specific steps for each service that will vary. If you need help, please contact your domain host’s support team or check their documentation. This option is more advanced.

After you update your DNS records it can take up to 72h for DNS Records to update this varies from the provider. After you have done the changes you come back to your Facebook Business Manager and click Verify, if everything has been done properly your domain will be verified.
  • HTML File Upload and

This is a more easy process all you need is to have FTP access to your hosting via FileZilla Client or your host’s web-based FTP. Download the HTML Verification file, Upload the file to your root directory, then open the file via your browser as per the link provided by Facebook step 3, if you have done everything properly once you click Verify your domain should be verified.Facebook_verify_domain_ios14

  • Meta-tag Verification

Meta-tag verification is also an easy step, all you have to do is edit your index file, and Copy and Paste the Meta-tag code provided by Facebook to the <head> section in the HTML of your domain homepage, yourdomainname.com. Then you can verify if the meta is visible by opening your page in the browser and see the source code, then come back to Facebook Business Manager and click Verify.Facebook_verify_domain_ios14 Subscribe to our blog and youtube channel to get notified when we release the video version of this Guide, it will also include the verification process with all three options step by step.
